Welcome to the official webpage of the Inclusive Schools Conference, which was hosted by the British Council in Cape Town. Our conference, which took place from 18-20 July, brought together policy makers from 15 countries to address the challenges of creating inclusive school systems that empower all students to reach their full potential.
With the theme of " Creating More Inclusive Schooling," our three-day event focused on promoting equitable and accessible school systems worldwide. We firmly believe that inclusive schooling is not only a fundamental human right but also a key component in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 4.5, which aims to eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education for vulnerable groups.
This conference provided an essential platform for policy makers to discuss their respective contexts, policy directions, and challenges in inclusive education. By facilitating international networks and fostering dialogue, our goal is to ensure that every child has access to high-quality education.
Throughout the conference, attendees engaged in evidence-based research and explored practical solutions from the UK and around the world. We prioritised learning, reflection, and networking to enable participants to forge long-term collaborative networks and exchange ideas.
One of the highlights of the event was a visit to an inclusive school in Cape Town. This firsthand experience provided valuable insights into successful inclusive practices that can be implemented in different contexts.
Schools Connect is a global initiative that partners with governments and educators to improve the quality of education and infuse an international perspective into the curriculum. By nurturing young minds, Schools Connect equips students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to address global challenges.
We are thrilled to have hosted the Schools Connect global conference, 'Creating More Inclusive Schooling,' and creating a meaningful dialogue on creating inclusive school systems and are dedicated to supporting school reform and development, connecting stakeholders to UK expertise, and improving school-level education worldwide.
